VCA Animal Hospitals Experienced Veterinary Technician in Quincy, Massachusetts

VCA South Shore Quincy is in need of a Full Time or Part Time Certified Veterinary Technician for our general practice hospital on Tuesdays. Additional hours are available through our sister hospital, VCA South Shore Weymouth. This position can be strictly part time in Quincy only, or could be made full time by serving both VCA Quincy and VCA Weymouth.

Veterinarian Technician Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides animal care by determining animal requirements.

  • Determines animal requirements by conducting examinations, interviews, and diagnostic procedures.

  • Supports animal examinations by assembling required supplies and instruments.

  • Takes vital signs and collects samples.

  • Administers medications, drugs, and vaccines.

  • Draws blood samples from cephalic, saphaneous, and jugular veins.

  • Places catheters and obtains blood gases as needed.

  • Restrains patients properly for procedures.

  • Administers SQ and IV Fluids.

  • Maintains veterinary supplies and equipment.

  • Maintains records.

  • Completes laboratory tests and studies and diagnostic imaging.

  • Bandages and wraps wounds.

  • Explains animal status to owners.

  • Obtains and verifies medications.

  • Cleans animal cages and equipment.

  • Maintains safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment by sterilizing and wrapping instruments, sanitizing operating areas, verifying shelf life of medications, and complying with legal regulations.

  • Enhances service reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Assisting with ER and surgeries only available through VCA Weymouth.
