Job Purpose/Overview

The Agile Facilitator (also known as Scrum Master) will have the primary responsibility of facilitating the learning and growth of one or more Agile teams in developing a Scaled Agile mindset, improving practices, and guiding them to predictable software delivery.

The Agile Facilitator will lead Agile ceremonies, guiding and supporting teams in establishing and managing effective practices related to delivering software releases in the Scaled Agile Release Train. The Agile Facilitator will be responsible for keeping the team backlog up to date, which will enable visualization of work in progress. The Agile Facilitator will also be responsible to foster an environment of continuous improvement on the team(s).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Team Leader:

  • Facilitates team ceremonies, collaboration, communication, and conflict management.

  • Promotes transparency through healthy communications and data integrity.

  • Monitors and tracks team planning, completion, and implementation metrics

  • Promoter of Backlog Health:

  • Works with Product Managers, Product Owners, and team members to learn and practice healthy backlog management and prioritization practices.

  • Facilitates the execution and improvement of backlog refinement; responsible for ensuring backlog refinement is ongoing for both current and future Program Increments within the Scaled Agile Framework

  • Teaches and encourages a balanced backlog that delivers valuable features for customers, reduces technical debt, provides business value, and enables product sustainability.

  • Team Protector:

  • Assists in dependency management and cross team coordination.

  • Helps identify and mitigate impediments.

  • Acts as a buffer between external distractions to minimize disruptions.

  • Team Coach:

  • Facilitates continuous improvement and the development of a learning culture on teams.

  • Mentors team members in healthy Agile development practices, focusing on quality, continuous improvement, and predictable delivery.

  • Teaches new team members Scaled Agile values, principles, methods and frameworks, practices, and process.

  • Facilitates team development, mediates conflict, and encourages healthy team dynamics.

  • Fosters team responsibility, self-accountability, transparency, and self-organization

  • Leverages coaching skills to help the team learn to solve its own problems

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 2 years' experience as a Scrum Master / Agile Facilitator. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or 14 years' experience in a related field.

  • Working experience in more than one of the following Agile methods or frameworks: Kanban, Scaled Agile, Scrum.

  • 2 or more years’ experience using Azure DevOps.

  • Experience working with multiple teams is preferred.

  • Working in Pet Health and/or a regulated environment is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience and knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

  • Proven track record of delivering products in a predictable and timely manner.

  • Experience working with multiple teams and ARTs in parallel.

  • Creative and enthusiastic about doing what it takes to delight our customers.

  • Ability to understand technical requirements.

  • Desire to learn the domain and grow in their career

Travel

Percent of time: 10 %

Working Conditions

The associate is regularly required to apply manual dexterity, including hand/wrist flexibility, for computer keyboarding. The associate frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The associate is frequently required to hear and speak in order to use the telephone, make presentations, and communicate with people in an office environment. The associate is occasionally required to sit and stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch. The associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.

The associate will primarily work in a typical office environment including the use of cubicles, computers, and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The associate will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, database management, email, and the Internet. The associate is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system. The associate must occasionally use media equipment such as an overhead projector, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams.

The Target Pay Range for this position is $98,000 - $130,000 Annually. At Mars, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.
